The Goal Outfit Fits - June 2010

On August 25, 2009, the night before my surgery, at approximately 8:47 pm, I was frantically shopping for a “goal outfit”. I am not sure why, at the time, I didn’t think I’d be able to do that after the surgery, but it seemed important at the time. I didn’t have a lot of spare cash, so I was in the consignment store (hadn’t discovered the joys of the Goodwill yet) and found a pair of Calvin Klein jeans, size 34×30 and a silk knit turtleneck in a size medium. In my entire life, I’ve never worn anything that small – not even in high school. So, again, not sure what I was thinking, but I bought it.

Once a month when I try on all my clothes and go through my collection of goodwill finds to see what is too big, what still fits and what I’ve recently shrunk into, I try on that outfit.

Yesterday it fit.

(I’m just going to pause and enjoy that. Yesterday. It. Fit.)

Of course, it is 100 degrees outside in Atlanta and there’s no WAY I can wear that sweater, but I had to take the picture and post it anyway.

I wonder if it will still fit in September?

(Just for reference, I’m adding the BEFORE picture I took the same day I bought the outfit. When my stomach was about 52 inches, instead of 39…)

  1. Karen, you may as well take a trip to Goodwil(or my favorite, Value Village); those 34’s will be way too big by the end of August! You are doing and looking great!! I am
enjoying your insight on your blog and look forward to reading every day.

    • I just figured out the reply feature on my blog – sorry it took me so long! Yeah – I think you are right. They are already lose and I’ve got 30 pounds to go, so they are HISTORY!

  2. Karen,

I am so excited for you! I bet you thought it was going to take a whole year to get into that outfit! I have a “goal wardrobe” in Jennifer’s closet…all the clothes I want to get back into 🙂 I know, not the same. I think I may do that too.

    You inspire me, friend
