This time of year is always a struggle for me. Even with the time change, I really struggle with getting up and out in the morning. My 6:00 am wakeup becomes 7am and at 8:20, here I am, still blogging and sipping my morning hot water with lemon instead of finishing up my workout. Fortunately, I have a job that I need to work 10-6, so I still have time to get my booty in gear and out the door to the gym. I can swim and sit in the jacuzzi and hit the sauna and still make it to work on time. That’s pretty fabulous.
I just have to get going. Tick tock. Tick tock.
Yesterday I got going by repeating to myself:
I don’t have to be inspired I don’t have to be motivated I don’t have to feel like it I don’t have to love it I just have to do it Every day. This morning I tried a little groove music – listening to the Wild Thang from Tone Loc. That didn’t work, so I’m trying Defying Gravity from Wicked. I like this part:
Something has changed within meSomething is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!
It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down!
And if that doesn’t work, I have a whole list of songs.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Now it’s 8:40. Time to fly!
